    Easter Egg Painted Rocks

I made an effort this past weekend to stock up on food to get us through a couple of weeks so I wouldn’t have to go out anymore than I needed to (thank you, pandemic). So here we sit, a few days until Sunday and no eggs to hard boil and dye. But that is okay because I am thinking that a new tradition has been created with these Easter Egg Painted Rocks. Rocks are the new eggs anyway. This doesn’t need a tutorial either. The concept is simple: Go on a nature walk and find the best rocks possible that resemble an egg shape (or don’t–do whatever you want; it’s a new…

    Macaroon Chicks

You guys, I think we are on our 87th round of Easter egg hunts in preparation for Sunday already. I made a mistake by taking my Easter bin out early last weekend and the little man (um, he’s THREE now–I know, I’ve been gone awhile!) spotted it and immediately wanted demanded an egg hunt. Cue to the 86 more times later…I’m egged out. But we’re preparing, you guys. Holidays are a big thing over here in the F&B’s household, (I am sure you got the feeling). and this Sunday I plan on doing a BIG egg hunt (and then put them away for another 364 days). Needless to say, I need a new…

    Bunny Soft Pretzels

Yeah I’m back. Well, back-ish. A lot can happen when you are in quarantine. Not saying I am consistently posting here but at least I am having fun (or at least trying to) while I’ve been in my house for a month straight. I think I stopped playing around over here for the simple reason that I was putting too much damn pressure on myself to be serious, be a brand, follow SEO, and blah blah blah–all the things that a pandemic quickly brings to light. It also makes you bake. So I baked Bunny Soft Pretzels since Easter is coming up but then again, what day are we in?! This is actually…

    Butternut Squash Wellington

The Wellington is absolutely classic British dish. Traditionally made with beef, our vegan version uses bold colours, wonderful textures and – of course – delicious flavours. Butternut squash is the hero here and we create a lovely mushroom, walnut and thyme stuffing. We also use shop-bought pastry to makes things super easy. And with Christmas right around the corner, there’s no better time to treat yourself and your loved ones to this decadent centrepiece! We love to serve our wellington with homemade gravy, roasties and glazed veggies. Oh, and btw, do you follow us on YouTube? Head over there and subscribe to find exclusive videos and recipes! Hope you enjoy, Roxy & Ben Butternut…

Penne Pasta with Vegan Sausage and Peppers

One of my favorite Italian dishes has long been the Rigatoni Abruzzi at our local Bertucci’s . The dish is somewhat spicy with Vegetarian Italian sausage and green peppers. I’ve been trying to duplicate the flavor and texture as a Vegan dish and I’ve finally got it! Mangia!

    Amy’s Vegan Pizza

I usually make my own pizza from frozen dough and my own toppings. I’m getting fairly good at it too. But tonight I grabbed an Amy’s Margherita out of the freezer. I’ve been a fan of Amy’s frozen Asian meals so I gave this a try. I did what I’ve done for years, and added my own toppings to the frozen base. Peppers, Vidalia onion and vegan Italian sausage. It failed! The crust was excellent, sauce tasty and my toppings were perfectly done. But whatever cheese substitute they used, was a slimy, horrid tasting mess. The “cheese” ruined an otherwise fine pizza and I threw half away. Sorry Amy’s, but I will always…

Labor Day Favorite – Vegan Sandwich

My old self had this dread of turning vegan that was based on my own ignorance. I was experienced with the salads, nuts, pasta with plain sauce and veggie burgers I snuck into the trash while eating with vegans I know. I hadn’t done my research. But, I was determined to turn vegan and learn how I, a raw tomato hating, spicy meaty sauce loving old guy could survive on a plant based diet. I had to find more than PB&J in all it’s wonderful variants. Yes, I can live on vegan Asian curries and Asian salads but there had to be more. Enter the Sausage, Peppers and Onion sandwich. I’m the guy…

Vegan Fine Foods Cafe and Market

Defiantly Dairy-Free! The sign says everything you need to know about the intense Vegan attitude of the people working here. Spoiler alert: I love this place! I found Vegan Fine Foods™ with a Google Maps search. I’m in Broward County visiting my mom for her 99th birthday. I’ve been seriously Vegan hesitant in this home of fruits and veggies. It seems odd but finding Vegan dishes is hard here and I’m done with salads, bagels, fries and hoping the local Thai joint doesn’t use fish oil in their excellent veggie panang curry. Next, I plan to sample some Jamaican Vegan dishes but that will be another story. I walked in to find a…

    Grampy’s Journey

That photo of a family playing below a Catskills waterfall, encompasses my main reasons for becoming a vegan. That is Vegannista(Laura) her hubby, kids and sweet pups. Actually I need to restate that. They’ve never been pushy but I’ve felt the need to be one with my grand kids, one of whom once asked me “do you eat dead animals?”. Yep mommy is really a VeganNista. I also know I care deeply for all animals. I cringe killing ants. I’ve spent my life as a true meat eater and have the ass to show for it. But I fly fish, yet never kill the fish I catch. Now I may even stop fishing…
